The leaves are changing and it’s so beautiful everywhere you go. The air is cooler and crisper, and you’re not sweating just looking out the window. It’s cool enough to wear a jacket and some boots, but not so cold you need gloves yet. You can even enjoy your Starbucks hot (chai latte with 2 pumps of pumpkin, please!). You guessed it! It’s the best season of all: FALL.
Everywhere I go I feel like I’m in a painting. It’s so beautiful and magical, and I’m sad that it doesn’t last very long. I’ve been enjoying it by taking lots of photos in the foliage. You’ve probably noticed my feed is pretty much all photos of me next to a tree these days, but that’s because it’s what has been inspiring me. I see these beautiful trees and I just want to take a photo to make the memory last. I often feel the same way when it snows. Can you tell I’m a big cool weather gal? To me, summer is the worst season. It’s so hot and quite frankly, that makes me miserable. Also, fall and winter fashion is just FAR superior. The layering, the coats, the boots, the cold weather accessories, all of it. I’m never more inspired to really have fun with my wardrobe than in the fall and winter.
So, a few weeks ago, Jason and I went up to Vail to see the fall colors and take some photos. The foliage along the I-70 corridor was beautiful, especially between Silverthorne and Breck. After Copper Mountain, the foliage was significantly less, and not nearly as good in Vail, though by now I’ll bet the leaves on the trees in the town have turned. They just don’t change on the same schedule as the aspens, which is what the Rockies are known for.
On our way back into Denver, we stopped by a spot off the highway called Officer’s Gulch. If you’re not paying attention you’ll miss it, because while it’s an exit between Frisco and Copper Mountain, there’s no gas stations or restaurants. It’s a beautiful spot to stop and take photos, and several professional photographers were there snapping photos, along with a wedding party. Needless to say, we’ll be stopping there again next year!
You’re going to be seeing a lot of this shacket this year. It’s faux suede and looks great with jeans and a turtleneck. Speaking of turtlenecks, you’ll be seeing this one a lot too, because it layers well under everything! Now, back to the shacket. If you don’t already own one, I would suggest this one. It’s pretty warm, and would look great with everything everything from jeans to black leggings. It certainly has a very “fall” look about it and I love that!
I actually purchased mine last year, but LOFT came out with it this year as well. I also grabbed the denim version of it this year, which you’ll be seeing in an upcoming post. The shacket is the perfect outerwear layer for this in-between time and those random 60 degree days that we will surely get here in Denver this winter!
