I’ve always loved animal print. Leopard and snakeskin are my favorite animal prints, and I treat them like neutrals, because they are. This season, however, we’ve seen not only leopard and snakeskin everywhere, but we’ve also started to see a lot of tiger and zebra print, and even giraffe print!
I knew right away that I had to incorporate the zebra trend into my wardrobe, and what better way than with a pair of shoes? Spoiler alert: there isn’t a better way! When I saw these shoes at Ann Taylor, I knew I had to have them, and ordered them ASAP. I love that the print is made of three different colors: black, white, and tan. It makes these shoes simple to style and what I like to think of as a “statement staple” – that is, an item that makes a statement but is also neutral so it can be worn with a variety of outfits.
I chose to pair these gorgeous heels with a black pleated faux leather skirt from J.Crew and a camel-colored shell and faux suede jacket from Ann Taylor (both old), along with my new favorite sunglasses from Prive Revaux. The skirt sits higher on the waist and features a flattering lady-like A-line fit. Faux leather and faux suede are also on trend this year. Both faux leather and faux suede seem to come back consistently each fall/winter so you would be safe investing in a few pieces that you could wear for years to come!
Kate’s Styling Tips:
In addition to being on-trend, these shoes are also comfortable, at least by high heel standards. I have a pretty strict rule about the heel height that I will wear. All of my heels have to be 3.5 inches or less. I have two pairs of shoes that are 3.75 – 4 inches and they are so uncomfortable that I never wear them. A 3.5 inch heel is tall enough to give you the height and look that you want, but easy and comfortable enough to walk in (though I don’t recommend walking too far). Everyone has their own preference for how high of a heel they can and will walk in, so I recommend that you determine what yours is, and always check the product details before ordering! Trust me, it will save you from sore feet and awkward hobbling later.
