You get a wedding invitation in the mail, and it’s for a fall date. Summer weddings feel simple because there are dresses everywhere and you can easily find a pretty summer dress to wear. The fall and winter months, however, tend to be a little bit more tricky. Will it be cold? Will it be hot? Do I wear pants? A dress? Then there’s the whole dress code situation! So what’s a girl to wear?
I tend to stay on the skirt or dress path. You’ll likely spend the night indoors anyway, so as long as you aren’t concerned about showing off your pasty legs (see above and below) you can follow the same formula that you would use for a summer wedding, but…. make it fall. For a fall wedding I go for a fall color palette: think burgundy, mustard yellow, gold, shades of brown, and even blush tones, as well as your standard navy and black.
For this particular look, I started with my marigold-colored dress and matching headband. I had originally planned to wear a denim jacket, which was actually really cute with this dress, but it was too cold outside and I needed a thicker layer! I opted to wear my favorite leopard booties, and since I had pulled the gold color out of the print with my dress, I decided to pull out the brown shade with my jacket. Kate’s Styling Tips:
Whenever you wear a print, pull out different colors of the print to finish your outfit (i.e. accessories, jackets, tops, pants, etc.). This will create a more cohesive look, and really elevate your outfit!
