Have you ever had a piece catch your eye that you didnāt expect you would like? When I worked in retail I would joke that at the beginning of my shift, I would think something was hideous, but at the end I would be saying āI NEED that!!ā Except that it was really just a joke; it actually happened. Several times.
That wasn’t the case for me with this skirt. The minute I saw it online I loved it. Which I found odd because I donāt typically gravitate toward florals or long skirts. And definitely not together. But this skirt really caught my eye and I knew it would be perfect for one of the fall weddings I had coming up, so when I went to the store, I tried it on and I loved it even more! The subtle floral print using fall colors, and the layers, not to mention the length which comes just to the top of my booties, and the high-waisted fit make this skirt not only beautiful, but flattering as well, which is a must.
The booties and the jacket keep this outfit from being too dressy and when I saw that Ann Taylor had a bow that matched the skirt I had to have it. Especially because Iām obsessed with hair accessories right now. Theyāre certainly having a moment! Donāt worry, I have a blog post coming up all about hair accessories, so stay tuned!
Kate’s Styling Tips:
I want to once again draw your attention to the basics in this outfit. They are what made the outfit possible! The skirt is really the hero of the outfit, as a piece like this should be. Everything else in your outfit needs to be simple and understated. Otherwise, you end up wearing an outfit that has way too much going on and no one knows where their attention should be. Now, that’s not to say there isn’t a time and a place for that kind of outfit – but it generally isn’t for your daily life. I will cover outfit heroes more in depth in a future post.
