Last week I discussed basics in this post, and this outfit includes several of the items on that list: a white t-shirt, denim jacket, black pants, and a dainty necklace. But the standout piece of this outfit is the pants! I’ve always bought my work pants at workwear stores – Ann Taylor, LOFT, Banana Republic, etc. I never really considered buying pants to wear to work at a store that sells workout clothes, but when your Mom tells you that the pants are amazing, you listen. Enter, the Skyline Pant II at Athleta.
These pants are comfortable, can be dressed up or down, and they really don’t wrinkle! I’ve literally worn these pants to work (in a business casual environment), to run errands, to dinner, and I even wore them hiking. Ok, it wasn’t a hard hike, and maybe it was more of a walk in the foothills of Colorado, but it was still outdoor exercise that involved sweating. These pants can be worn for anything from work to an outdoor walk. They wash really well (I don’t put them in the dryer, but that’s my practice for all of my pants) and they’re breathable. They have a paperbag waist – meaning they are gathered at the waist – with a mid to high rise, and an attached belt. I typically tie it in a half bow, but you could also do a loose tie, or I’ve even tucked the ends into the pants and that worked out fine as well.
They are part of Athleta’s City Pants collection, which is a line that is meant for your life outside of the gym. I have these pants in black and in the “Cognac Brown” color, which is currently on sale for under $40! That’s an amazing deal on these pants, and almost all sizes are available. Head on over to Instagram where I shared a look in the Cognac Brown shade that would be perfect for a business casual office!
